Our heart and vision

A home for evangelical theological fellowship

Union Scholars began in 2021 in Oxford as Newton House, under the wise guidance of Director Michael Haykin and our Senior Fellows. From the start, we have served the theological community both in Oxford and worldwide.

In 2023, Professor Haykin passed the leadership to Director Rob Trenckmann and Dean Donald Fairbairn, while continuing to serve as a trusted Senior Fellow.

In 2024, we introduced our current cohort model, expanding our reach beyond Oxford and Cambridge to serve a truly global community. Our pilot year welcomed 30 scholars from 15 countries across multiple theological disciplines. In 2025, we rebranded as Union Scholars to reflect our international scope.

Today, we remain committed to equipping evangelical scholars with deep theological training and warm-hearted devotion, preparing them to serve the global church with excellence.
